Roughly thirteen miles off the shore of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, under five feet of water lies the sunken Isle of Capri. Today it’s considered a shoal, or sandbar. It rests between Ship and Horn Islands and has a sprightly short-lived tale.
The barrier island is a flat coastal formation characterized by sand dunes and marshlands. Round Island seemed to be the exception when explored by Pierre Le Moyne d’Iberville.
