Colleen Coble is one of the top Christian Romantic Suspense writers, and I often read her books as a study of “how to.” As an author in the same genre looking for non-stop action, Coble never disappoints.
Secrets at Cedar Cabin is the third installment in the Lavender Tides series. Although others have reviewed otherwise, I enjoyed this fast-paced tale as a standalone. The story revolves around a young woman with a tragic past. Soon on the run, Baily hides out in a small town, thinking she’s safe. But little does she know that going there will involve her with the FBI while they hunt down a human trafficking ring.
I thought I wrote bad guys well, but Coble takes evil to another level! And rightfully so with dehumanizing human trafficking activity. Yet Coble does an excellent job at writing scenes that depict the terror without the unnecessary graphics.
Redemption through faith is the satisfying ending that I often seek, and Colleen Coble delivers. She leads us in all directions with tight subplots, leaving us guessing till the end. There are some sweet twists of family reconciliation too. Though not my favorite of her books, I thoroughly enjoyed the pace and story. Now I’ll have to go back and read books one and two!
